Fall sports kick off today

TIGERVILLE, SC—Fall sports kicked off in Tigerville today as 171 student-athletes reported for preseason camp at North Greenville University. The football, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball teams begin the 2007 campaign with practice today.

The Crusader football team will take the field today at 3:45, while they will begin at 2:45 the remainder of the week. All practices are open to the public. Head coach Mike Taylor will begin to conduct two-a-day practices on Saturday. The reigning Victory Bowl champions will try to build on their record-breaking 10-2 season in 2006, with their first test coming September 1st against UVA-Wise. One hundred ten players reported to camp today.

Chad Gfeller, head soccer coach, had 25 men report to camp and 20 women. They will begin drills tomorrow afternoon.

The Lauren Axson era in volleyball begins Tuesday as well. The new coach had 16 report to camp and will begin fall practices Tuesday.
