TIGERVILLE- Construction of North Greenville College’s first on-campus football stadium is almost complete. The Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium is set to open on August 27 as the Crusader football team commences its 2005 campaign.
The 5,000 seat stadium, part of Phase One of North Greenville College’s new on-campus athletic complex, is named for donors Melvin and Dollie Younts. Mr. Younts is a prominent Greenville attorney. The actual football field is named Fogle Field, in honor of Tony Fogle of Neeces, SC. Mr. Fogle is owner of Carolina Fresh Farms, who donated the Princess 777 turf for the football field. That is the same turf used for the Super Bowl. Adjacent to the football field is a soccer field. The soccer Press Box doubles as visitors box for football games. The state-of-the-art football press box on the home side will serve all media, including North Greenville’s radio station WNGR 95.5 The Vibe. Also, the press box will house Sports Information, scoreboard operation, Crusader football coaches, and video cameras during the course of a game. In addition, The President’s Box will be located in the Press Box on the fifty-yard line. The Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium ushers in an exciting new era of North Greenville College Athletics.
